Guest Instructor, Contemporary
Todd Williams began his dance training in his native of Los Angeles. His professional career includes dancing with the New York City Ballet, the Stephen Petronio Company, and as a guest artist with renown contemporary dance companies and choreographers. As a student, Williams attended the San Francisco Ballet School and the School of American Ballet, receiving several awards including a medal from the Prix de Lausanne International Ballet Competition (1990). Further studies included work at the Merce Cunningham Studio, Movement Research - NY, and various Somatics, Qi Gong, and Yoga. In 2004, he founded his own company WilliamsWorks, which was presented in theaters and festivals both in the States and abroad. His freelance work as a choreographer includes pieces for Chicago’s Hubbard Street Dance and Cedar Lake Ballet in New York. Todd refined his teaching methods over a two-year period at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD) as the main artist in residence. He has recently been a guest teacher at California Institute for the Arts (CalArts) and in 2012, at the Prix de Lausanne International Ballet Competition.
